Majestic has again showed its quality, releasing strong interim results with sales up almost 10% to £117m and pretax profit rising 20% to £8.8m. This came thanks to a 2.7% increase in like-for-like sales as well as store expansion, with eight new stores opening in the period taking the total to 174. Net debt fell from £1,560,000 to £874,000, with its £5.6m term loan having been paid back.Helped by the trialling of some TV advertising in the London area into the Christmas peak, Majestic increased the number of active customers registered on its database by 7.7% to 534,000 while average spend per transaction rose from £122 to £125.
