Another pleasing update from Nichols with trading ahead of expectations. Sales increased 18% in the year to December with its brands (Vimto, Sunkist, Panda) outperforming the UK market while international again delivered significant year on year growth. Although UK gross margins were under pressure due to raw material cost inflation and exceptional promotional activity, operating margins were maintained thanks to productivity improvements and tight cost control. The imminent launch of a new Weight Watchers branded low calorie soft drink in the UK, plus a new bottling agreement signed with Coca-Cola in North Africa bode well for future growth.
