Topps Tiles has announced like-for-like sales growth of 1.6% for the first quarter to 29 December, implying a slight acceleration of +2.3% over the past six weeks, despite tougher comparatives. It also ended the quarter with 322 stores. Broker, Peel Hunt, states that there are no structural barriers blocking Topps' recovery to peak profitability when the market picks up and there are already signs of that with mortgage approvals rising sharply last November.
