Cranswick - Shares break through £19 for first time

The shares have spiked spectacularly to a new high of 1950p as half year results from pig meat processor Cranswick were slightly ahead of expectations. As flagged in its earlier update sales rose 9.9% to £529m but more impressive still was the 22% increase in pretax profit to £31.5m. Eps rose 25% to 51.5p.Growth came through a 10% increase in volume growth although underlying sales rose just 7% as falls in pig prices were passed back to consumers. Operating margins rose 0.6% to 6.0% on the contribution from Benson Park and also improved efficiencies.Fresh pork grew sales 15% while bacon (+21%), sausages (+5%), pastry (+45%) and its continental range (+12%) also did well.Encouragingly, export volumes rose ...
