Another difficult update with interims showing a 14% reduction in sales to £1,638m with EBITDA down 33.5% to £145.3m due to a weaker pound making US$ sourcing costs more expensive, which reduced gross margin by 4.5% to 40.4%.UK sports retail sales rose 9% to £1.1bn but was boosted by promotional activity and gross margin fell 6.1% to 40.2%, which in turn reduced EBITDA 32% to £139m.International revenues rose 66% to £330m, primarily from the acquisition of Heatons’ business in Ireland but it lost £10.7m (H1 2015: £2.4m profit).
