The shares jumped after litigation finance specialist Burford Capital announced it had secured access to almost US$1bn of new capital, giving it a new and financially attractive structure for how the next US$1.6bn of investments will be made. The most significant part is a new strategic capital relationship with a Sovereign Wealth Fund (SWF); both parties have committed a new US$1bn pool of capital with the SWF supplying US$667m and Burford the remaining one third, although receiving 60% of the investment profits. In addition 50% of all new investments will be allocated to this fund over the next four years or until it is fully invested.Separately Burford has announced the raising of US$300m of capital for a new private fund. ...
