When I first started writing TMI in summer 2000 it coincided with one of the longest bear markets in living memory as the easy money dot com madness unwound but a rare hot bed for gains could be found amongst quoted car retailers, once considered the Cinderella of the stock market because their key asset was a (usually) short-term franchise giving them the right to sell new cars of a particular brand and territory.
