It began with tentative hopes that Ukraine’s long-planned counter offensive might force a quick end to Russian hostilities but not only did those hopes evaporate but a new crisis erupted in Gaza and is now preventing commercial shipping from using the Red Sea (for fear of attack from Iranian backed Houthi rebels in Yemen) in spite of the US Navy intercepting cheap drones with US$1m missiles.
