Insolvency specialist Begbies Traynor issued strong interims with revenue and adjusted pretax profit growing 16% to £76.4m and £11.5m. EPS increased from 4.6p to 5.1p. Free cash flow grew 8% while net debt of £3.8m came after acquisition earn-out payments of £4.1m, share buy-backs of £0.8m and dividends of £2m. Business Recovery and advisory grew sales 12% to £52.8m and profit 17% to £13.6m, with operating margins rising from 24.7% to 25.8%. Market conditions were helpful with Begbies latest “Red Flag Alert” report stating significant financial distress increased in 21 of the 22 sectors covered with Hotels & Accommodation (-33.5%), Construction (- 28.5%) and Real Estate and Property Services (-26.5%) the worst off.
