As that great philosopher Mike Tyson once said: “Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the head.” For Labour, its plan is inflation busting pay rises for public sector workers but bond markets have socked the Government a black eye because the additional £30bn budget borrowings may push debt to an unsustainable path. Amazingly, 10-year UK gilt yields are double Germany’s and a scarcely believable 1.5% higher than Greece, which infamously nearly blew up the Euro Zone. Bottom line? This extra £30bn will cost us an additional £10bn a year interest across all its debt and is equivalent to a homeowner taking out a £300,000 equity release loan for £100,000 a year interest. Small wonder Small Caps are down 2.1% while TP2 fell 3.8 ...
