Shares in spread betting firm IG shot up to within touching distance of £3 after it issued a positive pre-close trading update, which noted that all areas had seen revenue growth since its AGM in October. The highlight was news that its core UK business is recruiting clients at a faster rate than a year ago, while its smaller sports operation benefited from interest generated by the football World Cup. Among its overseas businesses, IG’s Australian subsidiary has picked up from a previously quiet first quarter, while Singapore, which opened in April, has achieved good levels of customer recruitment.
