A new month has heralded yet another earnings enhancing acquisition from Spice, sending the shares to a new high of 381p. The latest deal was the initial £9.65m purchase of Apollo Heating, which installs, services and maintains gas appliances and heating systems in domestic and commercial properties owned by social housing bodies and local authorities. Established ten years ago, Apollo has service and maintenance agreements covering 70,000 properties predominantly in the North West and Wales. In its last financial year ended 31 August, it made an operating profit of £1.15m on turnover of £11.1m, which suggests that it was acquired on an exit PE of around 11 times.
