Interim results from wine warehouse retailer Majestic Wine were excellent and bang  in line with expectations. For the six months ended 1 October pretax profit increased nearly 17% to £7.5m on sales that rose 3.1% to £91m. Operating margins rose 1% to 8.1% reflecting a reduction in low margin corporate business, better buying and currency gains. With three million shares being bought back in the period, earnings rose 21.5% to 7.9p.Majestic’s progress was again driven by a combination of organic growth and store expansion.
