It was a case of continued steady progress for James Fisher, whose interim management statement covering the period from 1 July to 10 November was in line with expectations.  Trading in its offshore oil services business was encouraging with new contracts being won around the world as well as in the North Sea. The Defence and Specialist Technical divisions also achieved good organic growth with the latter benefiting from strong performances from Fendercare and Strainstall. However, the Marine Oil side (tankships) continues to suffer from short-term operational issues previously highlighted, while the worsening economic outlook is not helpful either.
