Notwithstanding the ongoing threat of a mis-selling investigation, Homeserve's results have provided a little respite with adjusted pretax profit up 10% to £23.5m and eps rising 11% to 5.2p. Encouragingly, global retention (renewal) rates only fell fractionally to 83.3% while net debt fell sharply from £61.5m to £36.6m. The UK was by far the most profitable region, with profits rising from £24.1m to £25.8m and this is why Homeserve's suspension of “outbound†marketing has hit the shares so hard.
