Originally added to the TMI Trader Portfolio in July '03 at 226p, Synergy has since evolved from being a domestic provider of laundry services into a leading international sterilisation player comprising three activities: hospital sterilisation services (HSS) involving sterilisation of surgical instruments; linen management for hospitals in the UK & Netherlands; and contract sterilisation of medical devices (AST).The latest interims to 30 September show that the UK and Ireland now account for 46% of sales, with Europe and the Middle East accounting for a further 35%, but the underlying rate of growth in these territories is pedestrian at 2% and 6% respectively, versus the US and Asia, which are each growing at 16%-18%.
