A storming run means the shares have more than doubled following our main recommendation exactly a year ago at 51p. This reflects final results, which showed a first increase in pretax profit of 2% to £13m, before exceptional items of £2.6m, since 2006 on turnover that was unchanged at almost £178m. Although eps fell to 4.8p (2012: 5.1p) what really whetted investors appetites was the much stronger outlook with like-for-like sales increasing 7.4% (2012: +1%) in the first eight weeks of the new year, helped by a pick-up in housing transactions and consumer confidence.
