Interim results from B&M, the general value discount retailer, were slightly ahead of expectations with revenues and pretax profit increasing 26% and 25% respectively to £930m and £66.4m. UK like-for-like revenues rose 1.2%, a deceleration from the +6% in FY ’14 reflecting the tougher market backdrop. Although the worst areas suffering deflation have been fresh and frozen food items (which it doesn’t sell), branded ambient and household goods also saw some deflation.
