History suggests that when  gold  starts rising  the economy will be facing the threat of inflation, fear of war or a combination of the two.  Investors, of course, can turn this situation on its head by investing in quoted gold mining groups, whose shares traditionally  track movements in the gold  price.  Onesuch company, Peter Hambro Mining, which floated on AIM on 29 April,saw its  shares close at a 6% first day premium, from its 130pplacing price.
