Cranswick's shares have picked up in recent days after earlier beingspooked by news of an unexpected exceptional charge  and a more cautious outlook statement at its results.  Aside from that it wasbusiness as usual, with Cranswick posting excellent figures for the year to 31 March 2003.  These showed pretax profit up 27% to £22.2m and earnings rising 22% to 38.5p, on turnover  5% ahead at £238m.  Net cash stood at £1.6m. Cranswick's foodoperation (69% sales), which manufactures value added pork products,was again the star performer.  Its turnover lifted 11% to £165m,mainly thanks to growth from the deli business (acquired in 2001) andits gourmet sausage range.
