After hitting a new high of 703p, shares in Business Post have retraced to 647p following April's warning that profit would be slightly below expectations. In the event, its final results for the year ended 31 March showed pretax profit rising by 7% to £20.5m (£1m below forecast) on turnover up 21% to £233m, while earnings rose 7% to 25.3p. Express (56% sales), the core UK business-to-business parcels service which specialises in next day deliveries, increased its turnover by 5.4% to £131m in conditions which have become more challenging and the fact that it has had to allow its sales staff more discretion over pricing is a concern.
