Clarkson has announced that the first four months of its financial year started well with trading in line with expectations. This has been achieved in spite of freight rates declining from the record highs achieved late last year. According to its proprietary, ClarkSea Index, freight rates have averaged just under US$30,000 a day, well above last year's average, although it is currently lower at US$24,900. Highlights this year include the sale of one of its carriers in its Logistics business, which generated a profit on disposal of £2.5m, while Clarkson has successfully completed the move to a larger head office in London.
