Excellent interim results from social housing contractor Connaught have sent the shares to a new all-time high of 613p. For the six months ended 28 February, pretax profit increased 14% to £3.7m, on turnover up 18% to £114m, while earnings rose 12% to 15.8p. Net debt has increased from £10.5m to £16.9m reflecting investment in the start of several new contracts. Connaught's largest division, Social Housing Maintenance (65% operating profit), was the brightest spot with its profit rising 15% to £4.1m.
