"Buy-and-build" food group Real Good Food has announced that trading is in line with expectations for the first four months of the financial year. Encouragingly, its largest business, Five Star Fish (FSF), a whitefish supplier, has increased its sales by 13% against last year's record figure, impressive considering the recent consumer downturn-related weakness in the foodservice sector. Elsewhere, patisserie and cake supplier Haydon grew revenues by an impressive 17%, which has in turn improved its profitability, with the growth coming through new listings and a major re-launch of its cream cake range for Waitrose.
