Silverdell, the provider of asbestos removal services, produced unexpectedly disappointing interim results, which led to analysts downgrading forecasts for the full-year.  For the six months to 31 March turnover rose 75% to £27.3m, thanks to first full contributions from the Redhill and Kitsons acquisitions. However, operating profit fell two-thirds to £0.6m, leaving eps at 1.1p. The bugbear came from the original Silverdell (UK) business and was caused by the delayed start to two large contracts (the Shell Tower and the Regent Palace Hotel) and the resulting lack of expected follow-on work.
