When two of the UK's biggest lending banks came within 30 minutes of going bust it might not have come as a surprise that shares in self-storage operator, Big Yellow, a business reliant on the health of the housing market, took a battering. Nevertheless, time is a great healer and 20 months on from that financial heart attack, consumer confidence and bank lending have picked up enough for Big Yellow to note a significant upturn in recent trading. However, the fascinating thing is that this improved momentum has not been reflected in the share price, which is back at levels first seen in 2005, a year when the company was generating turnover of £37m, pretax profits of £4.1m and had built up a chain of mainly freehold outlets with ...
