Our recent main write-up on Nichols, owner of the popular Vimto soft drink, looks well-timed in the light of a subsequent trading update, which noted that sales in the New Year (despite strong comparatives), are well ahead of last year and the group's own expectations. In the UK, turnover is up significantly and has outperformed the market as a whole, continuing to improve market share, while internationally trading has also been strong, helped by the earlier timing of Ramadan. Meanwhile, sales in Vimto Cherry, its new flavour, have significantly exceeded initial projections.
