Gulfsands has delivered some mixed news on its main licence in Block 26 onshore Syria with its Abu Ghazal exploration well proving a duster while an earlier appraisal well (KHE-18) at its core Khurbet East field found oil in commercial quantities and it will now be prepared for future production. The next well to be drilled will be a “step-out†from KHE-18 in order to help determine if the latter will prove much larger than initially thought and if successful could see year-end proven and probable reserves raised significantly.
