Fresh from its acquisition of US rival Regal, Cineworld has released a strong trading update for the period from 1st January to 13th May noting sales up 10.1%. Within that the US (i.e. Regal) grew 10.2%, the UK 9.2% and Central and Eastern Europe 11.1%. Box Office, Retail and Other Income each grew 9.6%, 9.9% and 14%, respectively.Integration plans for Regal, which brought in 558 sites (7,305 screens), is going well with benefits in line with original expectations. Meanwhile, it continues to invest in new technology with plans to install 55 new IMAX laser projectors across Regal’s estate as well as another 80 4DX screens, taking the total to 145 screens.The group notes several exciting film releases to come in H1 &rsquo ...
