The shares jumped after Whitbread announced its intention to-demerge Costa coffee from its core hotels and restaurant business.Since that announcement the Press Association has reported that Whitbread has been approached over a buyout of Costa by a private equity firm with Bloomberg noting Bain Capital, CVC and TPG all considering a move.Credit Suisse values Costa in two ways: a conventional PE based valuation of £53 (10x 2019 estimated EBITDA) or a Starbucks multiple (based on 2019 forecasts) of £58.We highlighted the shares at 2088p in August ‘12 and took part profits at 4428p in December ‘14.
