In our last update in April, we said that "Character is shaping up to be one of the top performers of 2003."  Right on cue its sharessurged from 61p to 93p as its buoyant progress attracted a wave of new buying.  Character has  unveiled strong interim results, for the six months to 28 February.  Pretax profit rose from £0.12m to £4.1m, on turnover up 35% to £40m, while earnings increased to 9p or 6.8p adjusting for the £4.6m convertible loan.   Thelarger toys and games division (63% sales) benefited from its expandedReady Steady Cook range of working kitchen products, as well asseveral new additions to the product portfolio.  The games side was boosted by Lord of the Rings licensed products, su ...
