On 16 May shares in  HACAS, the specialist housing consultant, jumped 40p to 150p after receiving a take-over approach. The group has also announced interim results ahead of  expectations, with pretaxprofit  and earnings  both ahead 43% to £2.4m and 5.6p respectively.  We  tipped the shares at 95p in February 2001 noting how the Government's efforts to regenerate social housing stock had created a thriving industry in advising local authorities and housing associations.  Despite umpteen bullish trading statements and broker upgrades the shares initially refused to budge.  Nevertheless, our latest re-recommendation three months ago is now vindicated.
