Big Food's cheerily upbeat mood after Christmas did not last long, with like-for-like sales, for the 14 weeks to 2 April, slowing to +1.4%.  Although Booker continued to grow by 1.2%, Iceland fell by0.2%.  Analysts are blaming the slow down on expansion by Tesco and Sainsbury into the convenience food sector, with the former having recently bought a chain of 45 convenience stores.  Morrison's decision to drop Safeway's prices and the inevitable retaliation from the others is another concern.
