Over the month we met with Charles Skinner,  chief executive of Brandon Hire, which hires out tools and other equipment, such as accesstowers and electric drills.  Thanks to the deal-making ability of Skinner, an ex-corporate financier, Brandon has been transformed from atwo bit operator with ten branches around its South West heartland to one with over 100 branches and realistic pretensions of becoming a national player.   And like Speedy Hire, our front page recommendation last month, Brandon is also enjoying burgeoning demand for its services in an industry where burdensome health & safety regulations are driving customers to seek the help of specialist operators.
