Speedy has hit the acquisition trail again with the purchase of The Cabin Company (TCC) from Birse Group for a maximum £6.25m cash. TCC is a northwest-based temporary accommodation hire business operating a hire fleet of 950 portable accommodation units and made an operating profit of £0.7m on turnover of £4.8m in the year ended 30 April 2004. Its customers are both Birse Group and also third parties in the construction and civil engineering sectors in the UK. Earlier, Speedy released a very positive trading update which noted that total turnover increased 18% in the first 11 months of the current financial year, with the like-for-like element rising by 12%.
