Shares in self storage company Big Yellow have risen usefully since we recommended them in February and its latest results for the year ended 31 March fully justified this performance. Pretax profit, before revaluation gains, rose by 62% to £12.6m on turnover up 25% to £41.9m. However, the real excitement surrounds the much larger than forecast revaluation of Big Yellow’s property estate, which saw an uplift of £106.2m, taking the total pretax profit to £118.5m, nearly triple last year’s £42.8m.
