Glisten was formed in 2001 with a goal of achieving annual sales of £100m through a strategy of “buy and building†a portfolio of confectionery businesses. Following several acquisitions, including a move into the faster growing healthy snacking foods segment, its interim results suggest it is nearly three quarters of the way there already. For the six months to 31 December, turnover increased 13% to £33.5m, while profit before tax excluding share-based payments rose 25% to £3.3m.
