Spectris (FT sector: Electronic & electrical equipment) can trace its origins back to 1915 when it famously manufactured the Fairey Swordship biplane, whose torpedoes helped sink the Bismarck in the Second World War. Since then, the company has settled back to a life on civvy street, designing electronic instrumentation and controls with the ultimate aim of using technology to improve its customers' productivity. While most of you won't have come across Spectris, its products may have touched your lives in one way or another.
