Confectionery and snack foods firm Zetar has announced a mixed trading update ahead of covering its financial year, which ended 30 April. In confectionery, sales increased 11% to £68m with an early Easter for 2008 compressing sales into a short selling period and this resulted in the cancellation of some late private label orders. This was partially offset by a robust performance from Kinnerton, which makes novelty chocolate for the major high street food retailers, along with increased distribution of chocolate and yoghurt coated fruit and nuts and new third party manufacturing contracts.Elsewhere, in Zetar's other divisions, natural & premium snacks rose 17% to £40m, which was as expected but there was a problem at its bak ...
