When 100-1 outsider Mon Mome delivered the biggest Grand National shock in 40 years bookmakers were quietly chuckling but in William Hill's case trading was already on an upward trend with its Q1 IMS showing group net revenue rising 6.5% in the first 17 weeks. Admittedly this was boosted by the online assets acquired from Playtech last December. Retail gross win was up 2%, driven by the gaming machines (+14%). Meanwhile, net revenue from the expanded online business increased 50%.In spite of these encouraging results, broker Citi has left forecasts unchanged with pretax profit for this year of £204m and eps (reflecting the dilution from the recent rights issue) expected to be 21.6p.
