Lavendon, which hires out powered access platforms to provide a safe way of working at height, released a positive update for the period from 1 January to 17 April. Improved trading conditions and relatively undemanding comparatives (weather was bad in Q1 ’13) meant rental revenues increased 8%. The UK (47% sales) grew rental revenues an impressive 10%, the highest rate of growth in over 3 years, driven by a 2% improvement in pricing and 8% jump in volumes. Elsewhere, both the Middle East (21% revenues) and France (9% revenues) grew turnover 13% and 9%  respectively while the only trouble spot  was Germany (17% sales), where sales fell 3% due to sharp declines in pricing.
