Vimto soft drinks owner, Nichols, has announced that current trading for Q1 is ahead of last year. However, the Board anticipates the UK grocery and soft drinks markets will remain challenging for the year and as before it will focus on value rather than volume to protect margins.Nichols has also announced the acquisition of a 49% interest in the Noisy Drinks Co Ltd, which distributes slush drinks under the Starslush brand and generated turnover of £6.6m last year.The shares have recovered from a low of 834p this year and have gained 214% since our original recommendation at 360p in May ‘10.
