Few FTSE-100 firms can hold a candle to the growth experienced by Whitbread at the moment, so it’s not surprising that the shares touched a high of 5475p at one point. Fanning the flames was the unveiling of a  new “milestone” target to increase the number of Premier Inn rooms from the current 59,138 to 85,000 rooms in 2020 (extending previous targets to reach 65,000 in 2016 and 75,000 in 2018).
