The shares are closing in on £13, a terrific doubler since my front page write-up in December 2022 at 653p when no-one wanted them. While the wider housebuilding sector struggles on, Vistry’s shift into Partnerships with local authorities to build affordable / social housing and build to rent have delivered swift rewards. Last year, two thirds of housing completions were from Partnerships with one third private house building. While other housebuilders saw c. 40%+ profit declines, this strategic pivot limited Vistry’s profit reduction to minus 22%.
