Maiden issued a trading statement  ahead of its December year-end, stating that  after a pick-up in sales last autumn its  rate of recovery dropped significantly in December to a levellower than previously forecast and it now expects to make a pretax profit of around £6.3m.  However, there was better news going forward.  Turnover in January is some 50% ahead of the admittedly weak January a year ago.  February is also looking stronger.   Thehoped for V-shaped recovery is yet to materialise, with tradingpatterns too patchy to identify a trend, while  the shares look  vulnerable to what Alan Greenspan recently termed"geo-political risks" further dampe ...
