Encouraging trading for the important five week Christmas period, with like-for-like sales accelerating by 3% at Booker and 1.9% at Iceland. Overshadowing the trading news was that Big Food has made a £40m offer to acquire Londis, one of the two largest networks of convenience stores, after Irish food retailer, Musgrave, had made an initial  bid.  Given that a major part of Big Food's strategy for Booker is to expand its fast growing wholesale delivery business, which sells its produce to a network of affiliated convenience store retailers, Londis would be a good fit.  The shares have broken into new highs.  Await events. ...
