Critics have found it very hard to find a chink in the armour ofChemring, a leading supplier of decoy countermeasures, such as flaresand chaff, which are used to prevent enemy missiles from hittingmilitary targets. In a remarkable purple patch, which started way backin 2002, Chemring has seen its pretax profit soar from £5.2m to £53.2min 2007 and eps increase from 10p to 111p, helped by the protractedwars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Yet it’s the prospect of these same warsbeing ended if the democrats, traditionally the anti-war party, areelected to the White House which, some critics argue, could result in aslow-down for Chemring.
