In a trading update covering the year to 31 December 2007, Peter Hambro Mining announced that it produced 297,000 ounces of gold, a 14% increase over 2006 and 5% ahead of its original forecasts. Technological advances also meant that in spite of starting to process more difficult primary ore, its gold recovery rates remained stable at 90%, while unit costs at its Pokrovskiy mine were in line with original forecasts. The average sales price achieved last year increased 14% to US$668. Hambro also noted that its second mine at Pioneer was taken off-line temporarily last November to introduce a ball mill to the process circuit in order to process frozen ore during the winter and become an "all year round" mine and it will r ...
