Babcock's latest IMS, in which it noted that trading conditions continue to be strong and in line with expectations, has coincided with a pleasing rally in the shares since they bottomed at 348p last autumn. Both its largest two divisions, marine and defence services, remain resilient with all major contracts proceeding as planned. Highlights include the commencement of work on the first aircraft carrier while the contract to provide training and facilities management at the Royal School of Military Engineering became fully operational in January.
