Last month's decision to “buy-rate†JD Sports  & Fashion at 234p was nicely timed with the shares now up 62p to 296p. The catalyst was its pre-close update on 4 February, which noted that the positive sales uplift over Christmas was sustained during January. As a result management expect pretax profit before exceptional items for the year to 31 January to “marginally exceed market expectations.†Investec now expects pretax forecasts to increase 4% to £50m, with eps rising from 69p to 72.1p. That leaves the shares still looking cheap on a prospective PE of 4.1. Keep buying. ...
